Discussion

Dear Designers,

Please look at http://www.nextsky.com/email/NEXTSKYlogo.pdf first for some basics:

i.E. regarding #1-2-3-4-5 please refer to for Font definition.
No interest in classical "Times" style fonts at all. Sanserif, Gothic or all fonts listed in the document draw more attention ;-)

Regarding the Letters NS. Please do not use them simple next to eachother as "NS" can be used in our industry for a abbreviation that our Company definitely does not want to be associated with. Please instead use a Element or if you have any hot idea for a Combination of the Letters NS, then they could be used but only then.

Thanks for all your work so far,
Andy

Anybody who will work with "paper aeroplane" concepts, should consider this logo:

Dear New-Entry Designers,

to simplify your entries at this time, please only use for new entries:

Background:
White only (so it is easy comparable with other designs)

Color schemes/Color Palettes :
Blue as Entry #176
Grey as Entry #138
Orange as Entry #82
if 3D then Blue Texture/Surface as: Entry #82
if 3D then Grey Texture/Surface as: Entry #138
if 3D then Orange Texture/Surface as: Entry #82

Element above (or below) Font:
Please not NS does mean for some of our Customer base something that we do not want to be associated with! So therefore we do not want NS to be totally simple visible. Only if NS is in a Graphic Element to play with like many Designers now successfully did, then we take "NS", Examples of sucessdull implementation: #64 #63 #62 #169 #176 #210 #194
Otherwise a independent Fantasy-Element is preferred: like #188 #240 #236 #73

Font-Style:
As in PDF Definitions - no fancy Calssic Fonts
SmallCaps or Capitals only

Thanks for your assistance,
Andy

Some information on how rankings work on this site:

How to Rank and Thank Designers: When it comes time for final rankings, designers appreciate when you choose the top three CONCEPTS (as opposed to variations of the same design) for the gold, silver and bronze awards. If you want to rank two different concepts by the same designer in the top three, that's fine.
Also, rank as many entries as possible, because designers get points added to their overall site standing for each blue ribbon they get.

This is how points are distributed:

1st place - 50 points
2nd place - 20 points
3rd place - 10 points
4-6th place - 5 points
7-10 place - 3 points

After that, each ranked entry gets one point for the designer. Nobody will be insulted by being ranked last, the points are still good! So if you pull some entries out of the "Not Interested" group and give them a rank, the designer gets some benefit from entering your contest.

Hope that's helpful, lots of contest holders don't realize this and most are glad to know. It's a good way to thank designers who don't win the contest prize, but who worked very hard to offer you lots of options to choose from for a great logo.

Hey Andy thank you for your time and your caring about my work. I am happy that you finally have something nice to choose from. As far as I can see 3D elements are the future in the logo area, even though it will be difficult for cutting plotter materials.

Dear Designers,

it was a true pleasure and very hard work but in a good way, to work with all of you.

You are all truly amazing artists, and we had a totally difficult time deciding as you can see from our Ranks, so many different logos in the first Ranks and one is better than the other.

Just breathtaking, I wish there could have been more 1st place winners!

Thank you all for your contribution.
