Hello again to all the brilliant, hard working designers who created my Fulcrum Adventures logo this year.
This new one is for my daughter Makai who will be three soon and needs some cool t-shirts to go to school with! She loves Go Diego Go! and is constantly rescuing animals and having adventures in our house. She loves adventure rescue gear, animals and magic. We live in Venice Beach California and it is a big part of our out-door lifestyle.
Something like a badge or patch. If any of you can cartoon her she is a beautiful green eyed girl with two pony tails bursting out of her head and swinging into action!
Good luck and thank you to all!

This is a very good start, right on the money in terms of concept. Perhaps inappropriate, but sex it up, some gear, animals and stuff. Thanks for jumping in and setting the bar.

#2 like the animals very much and colors, girl looks a little too old (kai will be three soon). Thank you so much for jumping in on my contest!

Welcome back, Philip. For those of you who missed the Fulcrum Adventures contest, Philip is a terrific contest holder and will give plenty of feedback. Should be a fun contest, so get those designs coming!

#4 I like the integration of the animal components but where they went seems busy (except the monkey who is awesome). The cartoon is really good being done 'in the style' of early Dora or Diego which is great. The later, more recent books have a more polished look which is a little more Disney which I would also love to see but I understand that might take some serious drawing skills. Regardless, thank you for being part of this.

#4 Oh, forgot, would love to send you picture of Kai or friend me on facebook for lots of pics. Her pony tails are higher on her head a little.
March 27th, 2009, 9:49am
#3 is kinda cool and very much like Diego's badge on his jeep door and all his gear. Doesn't feel as personal a the character graphics which Makai is now looking at on the computer.

hello - I added you on facebook, just waiting for you to accept ;)

#7 is getting really wonderful. Pony tails moved up, cool Hawaiian flowers. Love it. I facebooked you! My wife is from your city! Thank you for your time and talent,

#9 face shape is different and better but still a little strange? Perhaps an orange over the shoulder rescue pack a la diego, and some bugs?
March 27th, 2009, 8:09pm
#12 is very interesting and the first graphic from an image and it kinda works but is a little scary for some reason. The hair really works but the face lines and ears a little weird. Love the bugs and flowers. Thanks for the bold entry.
March 27th, 2009, 8:39pm
#13 we like a lot. Good font, plants, backpack and colors. Figure not super strong yet but solid. Thank you for your work so far.
March 27th, 2009, 8:48pm
#11 too pink! Although she is a cute girl I am trying to stem the societal wave of rainbow pony femininity which I know will swamp her at some point. I'm hoping to keep her sense of power and adventure alive as much as I can and keep her interested in outdoor activities, sports and adventures. I'm sure my wife would have her in pink 24/7.

#14 is cookin'! Makai means 'towards the ocean' in Hawaiian and this is such a beautiful graphic. Thank you. Please keep this one and make a fierce version with some action/adventure/rescue components if you have the passion. Or just add some bugs...

no problem fulcrum.. I was drawing your beautiful girl since I got your invitation. So I really needed to check out style after all the time invested in the illustration of Makai. I wanted to know if you liked the "realistic one" or the plain colors one. Now I see you liked it so I´ll be back with layouts and themes. Thanks for feedback! Nat

#16 is very original and we like it. Kind of Japanese cartoony. Adventure it up with a tiger instead of a kitty, condor instead of a dove... Great start, thank you.
March 27th, 2009, 11:41pm
#18 is great. More cartoon characterish. My wife loves it, thinks it is beautiful and doesn't think it is too girly. Too bad! My contest! Needs some bugs or ropes or orcas. And I miss the yellow arc with shadow in back. Maybe a tiger shadow? Or a monkey footprint at least! Thank you for your hard work and talent. I will probably find a way to acquire this logo regardless of winning, it is that good.

Thanks Philip! This will be a fun logo to work on :)
March 28th, 2009, 11:39am
thank you for your feedback , will spice it up!
March 28th, 2009, 11:54am
#20 is really wonderful. A beautiful girl with a monkey and worm! The best of all worlds. Feedback over here is that the eyes are a tad too big and that the central figure is getting a little lost in the volume of foliage, what do you think?
March 28th, 2009, 11:56am
#22 is a demonstration of mad art skills. Face of girl is a little scary and maybe circle behind could maybe be stronger somehow? it might get lost on a t-shirt...
March 28th, 2009, 12:09pm
#23 is one of the strongest graphic designs so far. My wife's favorite. Perhaps the pith helmet is a little hard to read? Would also like some other adventure component: animal, back pack, rope...? Very, Very nice art, thank you!
March 28th, 2009, 12:13pm
#19 is really cool and you spiced it up! Love the zip line, backpack, shorts. Somehow the circle holding it all together feels strange as if it constrains instead of focuses? By far my daughter's favorite and I can't keep her away from the computer to look at it. She calls it "the coolest, the coolest!"
Thanks
Thanks

Sorry we lost #23. I guess it was too much of a 'tribute' to the Go Diego Go style. Ah well. Maybe I pushed too much for that style. I am open to any style that looks cool and has Makai doing adventurous zip line, animal rescue stuff. Thank you designers for all your hard work so far.
March 28th, 2009, 4:21pm
#19, i shall bring you another version for you without the circle...fix it up a bit...maybe make it even cooler for Makai!
March 28th, 2009, 9:37pm
#27 came back strong and, again, very solid appealing graphic. Would like the headgear replaced with the pith helmet or no headwear at all. No cross. Change the hot pink shorts to blue please. Also the dog is a little too normal of an animal. I know you will catch hell if you change it to a baby jaguar but maybe a tiger or even an alligator (which is Makai's favorite animal anyway). Thanks.
March 28th, 2009, 9:40pm
#24 is very very nice. I like the eye change and the tiger zulu shield is a slick way to have both exotic adventure as well as a circle frame. Does the monkey look scared? Thank you.
March 28th, 2009, 11:00pm
#29 is an active response to my feedback. However, it has lost the graphic power of your first entry #17 which looked very clean and asian. I guess, as an artist, look at it with your fresh original eyes and revamp to something you would wear on a t-shirt aesthetically with the components of Makai and adventure. Chances are if you like it I will dig it as well.
March 28th, 2009, 11:01pm
Can we call the alligator Nat? …..”Just kidding” I think Nat is a great designer with her heart in the right place. I am just feeling her teeth and a alligator seems to fit the bite. (I hope she has a since of humor) :)
March 29th, 2009, 2:10am
Ha! It's been really fun participating in this with you two (and it really is about you two at this point). Nat does seem pretty serious about this work, and it is reflected in her work ethic and intention. She's a pro and very good, as are you. Zing! Zang!
I sneak in every half hour or so like a crackhead to check on my logo tournament contest. I wish I could design I'd be a super freak!

Hey all. I have not specified that this has to be a Makai swinging logo. It just happens that those graphics seem to be working the best so far. Climbing, zip line, SURFING would all be great. Lets not get in some rope swing cul de sack here.
This has been a wonderful contest so far and I plan to do more cause' I have a hot wife who might need a logo next.
Thanks to all for your great time and talent,
Philip
