What We Do
We are a biopharmaceutical company that coat viruses with a polymer in order to "hide" them from the immune system so that they can be used as improved vaccines

Color Preferences
Blue for knowledge and science but an interesting dusky blue not a royal blue please. White for purity, perfection and integrity. Orange for creativity, innovation and uniqueness and perhaps a new dawn
Our Ideas & Additional Information
We need to convey an image of a virus coated in a thin layer, or bubble, or shell, or shield of polymer. This is the Hybrid concept (chemistry meets or fuses with biology). Ideally the virus will represent an adenovirus (a greatly simplified version of this: is fine, http://www.slimfilms.com/graphics/6adenovirus.jpeg but look at Google images for many examples). The basic hexagonal shape, coated in a smooth sphere / shell is the key element. The sphere or virus do not need to be complete and can be abstract, but please avoid the over common use of DNA double helix “swooshes”, indeed there is no need to depict DNA at all. The focus is on the coating/shielding/stealthing. The image should be clear and clean. It can be abstract and might be highly simplified. It must be modern, “techy” and convey the future. It should be bright and will probably not be too complex. We prefer a transparent background. For the final files we would like the image with three tradename combinations: Hybrid Systems; Hybrid BioSystems and Hybrid BioServices. However, for the competition phase please just use Hybrid BioSystems. The word Hybrid must be dominant and Biosystems could possibly even be left out for the right design concept. We will currently prefer a dusky blue for the wording but we are open to design concepts. You may or may not also want to include one of our slogans: enabling viral vaccines. In any case we will want a version without the slogan. Our lead product has the word STAR in it’s name and so you might want to consider astronomy or sci-fi type symbolism (planets, stars, orbits etc to convey the sphere or trajectory of the coated virus) ... perhaps think of a sunrise seen from space, or an eclipse... but this is just one idea, please do go wild and we will give feedback to any original ideas.

Dear Designers

I am back with a new client. This is for a team of scientists working at Oxford University in England on a new type of vaccine. We really want to get across the concept that this new approach is a remarkable breakthrough in the very important field of vaccines. I will plan to rank and to give direct feedback on all designs at least once a day over the next seven days. The scientific team will be the final judges. As before, we are comitted to a fair contest (no design theft please) and we will award the prize quickly (provided there is at least one good quality logo) at the end of the week.

Please do communicate with me early in the process and we will give you plenty of feedback.

Best wishes and good luck

Thank you to FatKid and Dodi for getting us off to a great start.

As an early note, there is no need to stick to the type face that has been used by both of them.

Also, we are not dependant on these colours, you can feel free to be more imaginative.

There are some great early entries here, thank you all. We feel that the right design will probably include both the sphere and the hexagon elements in some form. Neither need to be complete and the arc or crescent idea is a good one. I have one version in my head where a long thin arc appears above the word Hybrid like a sunrise or moonrise with a schematic or abstract edge of the virus below it ... might work?

Three dimensional element are probably better than flat representations.

But keep the ideas coming, we are open to new concepts and also new colour combinations and typefaces

Thank you all. In the interest of keeping things clear and communicating to all designers, I have moved some entries to the not interested folder because the client has:
No interest in general swooshes and swirls
No interest in droplets
No interest in molecular structures

We are interested in designs with some aspect of spheres and hexagons. We would be very interested to see designs that take those two elements in more abstract directions. We have not really seen anyone doing that yet.

One big message: we have ended up with all blues and oranges. I know that it is in the brief and I know that new designers will tend to follow what I rank highly, but so far we have seen nothing else! We are happy to consider other colour combos if you can make them work.

PS I already know that we are gonig to get a phenomenal logo from you guys, thank you

Hi everyone

Lot's of new entries and it is hard to give all designers direct feedback at this late stage (sorry).

The ranking has bounced around a bit as I get feedback from our team but to be honest all of the top ten are great designs and we will have a team discussion to choose. If you have recieved direct feedback then please do make the amendments before contest closure in 5 hours.

We will consider any new entries right up to close and then we will take it to a vote. We are committed to making a quick decision and will not ask multiple designers to make changes post closure.

Thank you all for some really great contributions, particularly those who have been with us over the past 5 days.

Sorry for the delay. We have many good entries and the judges are still debating. If your design is in the top 10 please do not withdraw it at this stage.

Best wishes
