Discussion

1. Through the incorporation of some elements of the American and Canadian flags, we want the logo to convey that the club membership consists of golfers from both countries. Refer to the 2014 Ryder Cup logo (on-line) as an example of incorporating flag elements.

2. View (on-line) the logo of the de Anza Trail (national) which illustrates de Anza on horseback and a Indian walking alongside.

3. We definitely want "Borrego Springs, California" to be incorporated into the logo.

Let's not be so rigid and conventional in the design. Feel free to introduce your personal flair to create something special.

Let's consider something like this:
A golf ball with a black, close-up silhouette of de Anza on horseback (somewhat of a front view), carrying a flagstaff, within the ball. The flagstaff may extend above the ball. Red flag.
"Wrap" the ball in American and Canadian flag ribbon banners and incorporate the de Anza Country Club name and Borrego Springs, California somewhere.

I have requested that the design phase be extended.

I have requested an extension of the design phase which probably won't be acted upon until Monday.
In the meantime, we would like to propose another idea for development.
View (online) the logo of the 2013 U.S. Open Merion logo. We find this very simplistic and pleasing to look at.
We would like to see this same concept adapted to a golf club (in place of the wicker-basket pin) with a desert agave plant behind it. The club should have a knitted head-cover on it with a pom-pom drooping a bit to the right.
Surrounding this in some clever and catching manner could be American and Canadian flag ribbons of some sort.

We favor the golf club in front of an agave.
The preferred agave is shown in a online photograph. Google "Agave Americana and Agave Desmetiana Variegata". The photo is of a blue agave in front of a wall with a rock in front of it and two or three small agave inn front of that.
To simplify the logo, attempt to incorporate symbols of both the American flag and the Canadian flag somewhere within or around a banner where the de Anza name is posted.

We're just about there.
The struggle is the flag graphics - which are of critical importance.
It appears that the banner (with the name on it) needs to be expanded in size somewhat (height and width) and a tab placed on each end (like a ribbon) that will include a symbol of the American flag on one end and the Canadian flag (maple leaf) on the other.
