I used to live in DC and I loved to go to Rock Creek Park all the time. The concept behind this soothing, natural design is using the Boulder Bridge in the park.

Hi Trish. I loved that you used the bridge because it is absolutely a location we will pass and we will likely have a photo of it on the website. I also really like the overall look of this design, but wonder if there is a way to add DC monument symbolism to it. I also am not sure if it appears too gender specific, though I do like your yoga figure silhouette best of the three logos submitted this far.
Trish, I also got some feedback from a peer that instead of seeing dancer's pose, this also looks a little like an ice skater on a lake. I do like the use of an active standing yoga pose though. What about tree pose?
Following up on my comment about adding some DC symbolism, maybe a shadow backdrop of a key monument or two?
Thanks very much for your reply it is appreciated :) I know what you mean about being gender specific so Ive changed our Yoga pose to a tree and its not of a particular gender so it covers a wider demographic. (design #11)
I also have used the Capitol in the background to make more of a reference directly to D.C., I tried the monument first but it was a bit to phallic and pointy, whereas the Capitol has a lovely smooth curve and fits the tree pose very well.

These are great changes! The only thing I'm unsure of is the text. I actually really like the font, size, style, and overall look of your "Yoga Hikes DC" text. However, I wonder if from my business perspective, the words "Yoga" and "Hike" need to get equal billing. I'd be open to seeing your ideas for how to do this and maintain the style that you have created. I'm also going to hopefully get some feedback from friends tomorrow and will then follow up.
Thanks for your message. Ive just submitted another design for you :) Ive put Yoga Hikes on one line and DC underneath. I tried putting it all on one line but that makes it unbalanced and too long, plus it decreased the impact of 'Yoga Hikes'. I think it looks good this way.

Hello Trish, These are really strong and most of my friends also gravitated towards your designs. I have to tell you, I've never done anything like this and it is exciting. I teach yoga at studios in DC, but this will be my first venture on my own so it's all very new. I love the images and the blended OG of Yoga, but I am still torn as to the best layout for the wording. I will have more time to process these tomorrow. I think I'd be interested in seeing Hikes in the same color as Yoga so that they are both bold. DC can stay as is.
Also, the dancer's pose got a lot of positive feedback from my friends. Could I see what that looks like w/ a monument element in the background?

Ive just uploaded some more designs for you as per your requests, Ive shown you a couple more options as well. Is the color palette OK, if you would like to see a variation on this its no problem Im trying to keep it within a natural hue to reflect the serenity of your venture.
In the new designs Ive shown you the typeface orientation in different ways, I can still work on this for you if you come to a decision on how you want the text to look, its a simple fix. Ive added another design using the Washington Monument behind the pose on top of the Capital Dome, this is just something for you to ponder over. You mentioned to do one without a monument, so Ive done that for you. Ive extended the tree leaves into the middle a little so it 'funnels' your focus into the design pose. If I had kept it as before there was too much white space outside of the pose, I think it looks better this way, its much more balanced :)
Good Luck with your new business, its not easy starting out, you've come to the right place for a logo though, there is some talent on here so the designers here will get it right for you.
