"Building New Stories" is the name of the capital campaign to raise money for the Wilton Family Y.

In fact, you could use any of the existing brand colors shown in the pdf link above, or a complimentary set of colors.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
The logo will be primarily a type treatment for the words "Building New Stories". However, an icon should be created that is integrated with or next to the words. One concept that we explored internally was the using a book icon (viewed from the side, the profile of an open book) to represent stories, and a roof icon to represent the building. The book and roof icons could be positioned symmetrically, one above the type (the "roof") and one below the type (the "book"). Another metaphor could be stairs, to represent going up.

The attached postcard shows the initial messaging for this campaign.

Note: The Y brand uses the font Cachet for headlines. We are looking to use a font for this logo that is not Cachet, but is complimentary -- because this logo will appear on the same page as the Y brand.

All, there are some great designs here! Nice work and thank you. I see some directions that have integrated the "story" into the "building" design. Interesting. Internally, we were discussing today the possibility of a design direction that included the attributes of people/community/family. But I'm concerned about just adding that to those designs that already have "story" and "building" going on. So here is some food for thought in terms of new directions that might inspire you:

Perhaps you can develop a design where the metaphor for the building is not a roofline, but instead is vertical structure next to the words, and stack the words flush against the building outline. Or perhaps you can make a building shape out of stacked icons representing people — where the people are standing on the shoulders of the ones below them, and at the same time creating the outline of a building shape. Projects like this one rely on the hard work of volunteers and people that came before those that are helping the Y now. So the concept of "standing on the shoulders" of others has appeal -- because it speaks to a strong foundation -- which itself is building-like.

Can you generate some logos that use people instead of the book? The book icon is making the identity look a bit like a library campaign. Perhaps putting people that are connected in some way under the roof or in the building will address this. Thank you!

For the record, everyone has executed well against the original direction involving a story and the "book" icon. The redirection to a more people/community/family concept was not possible until we saw the first round.

That said, we think there are some great designs in here that can evolve nicely. Sorry for the course correction, but this is sometimes necessary, as you know :)
