Contest Brief
Company Name:
100% Terry Cloth, Inc.
Slogan:
What We Do:
Television production company
Our Industry:
Entertainment
Formats Accepted
.EPS only
Top Three Things to Communicate through our Logo:
#1 - creative
#2 - experience
#3 - trustworthy
Our Target Audience:
Networks like Fox, ABC, Bravo, VH1, etc. whom we do business with. We want those 30 to 40 something executives to know we're a solid production entity. They can trust us with their money, and we'll deliver the content on time and under budget. Yes, we're very creative, but more so a solid trustworthy entity with experience. Most in this industry are highly educated, well read, well-to-do, progressive, innovative, and have a sense of humor (although our logo shouldn't necessarily).
Styles that we are interested in:
Letterform Mark

Typically uses a very small amount of letters (1-2) to represent the organization. Famous examples include:

Color Preferences:
This is tough to answer in a vacuum. It's more the combination of certain colors that won't work, if it gives off the wrong feel. Sorry, but kind of open in this area. In the past, we've been using red and black, which has worked (www.terencemichael.com). And before that we had sort of a blue and black (but I never really liked the blue we had before as it was too light). I think I prefer the bolder, darker colors.
Our Ideas and Additional Information:
Yes, I think so. If you go to our current site at http://www.terencemichael.com you'll see our current logo. I do love it, but technically, we don't own it. So for legal purposes, we wanted to do a for-hire situation where we can fully own the logo, since this goes at the end of our television shows as well as stationary and website. My initials "TM" have always been in all of our past logos, so we've kept it. I don't know that it has to be there, if it makes the design too cumbersome. If "Terry" is spelled out some how in the logo, then maybe not necessary. But if not I do like the "TM" One common mistake people make is trying to do something cute with film strip or a TV etc. Wrong. That is what the kid who just went to film school puts on his vistaprint business card. So steer far away from that kind of thing. As well, we're not a clothing company, however, maybe there's something to be done with the "100%Terry Cloth" aspect as if it was a tag on a T-shirt? But then our logo was the tag... or the shirt? If it's not too "cute" then maybe? I don't know. I'll know it when I see it. I think the challenge is that the name of the company is 100% Terry Cloth. But my initials are TM. Ideally, those two elements are somehow combined, if possible. But I'm open to losing the TM if it works otherwise. As you can see, our current logo simply has "100 Percent Terry Cloth" spelled out next to the TM. That has worked... but yeah, it's probably poor design.
